Caries is the most common dental disease.

Caries is a pathological process in which the tooth enamel and dentin get affected. Dental plaque is a fertile environment for life bacteria that secrete organic acids. It leads to destruction of dental tissues.

The common causes of caries formation are:
• violation of oral hygiene;
• non-observance of the principle of proper nutrition;
• disturbed microflora of the oral cavity;
• hereditary predisposition and systemic diseases;
• mechanical damage to dental tissues.

The symptomatology of the disease is diverse. In the early stages, the patient may notice slight stains on the enamel. If the caries are deep, it increases the sensitivity. Also, this stage is accompanied by painful sensations.

The choice of treatment method will depend on the stage of the disease. On the early stage, only the surface layer of the enamel is damaged. This is a reversible process that requires restoration and strengthening of enamel. If the caries is average or deep, it is required to remove the affected tissue, and then produce filling.
